Room 5

Term 4: week 2

This week we begun the reflection on our garden plans
Unfortunately, over the holidays our pumpkins did not get enough water and half of them have died. Luckily, we have more pumpkin seeds so we have decided to plant more. We realize how important it is to water our plants!!!

Term 3: week 10

It's time to plant our pumpkin plants as they have grown so big...

 Term 3: week 9

Wow! Check out our cauliflower!

We picked it, washed it, chopped it up then micro-waved half and ate the other half raw! We found that almost our whole class couldn't decide if the cooked was the best or the raw.

Term 3: week 8

Here are some of Room 5's plans for our pumpkin patch and new playground:

Te Maunu says:
The garden is by the fence. Pumpkins are in the garden. You have to water the garden so the pumpkin plants can grow.

 Te Ata Whetu says:
This is Marewa School and we are building lots of interesting things for us to play on. We are planting lots of trees and gardens to make our school pretty and to keep us healthy.

 Penehuro says:
Its raining on the pumpkin plants. The rain and sun will help our plants grow.

Sharon says:
We plant the flower in the little pot first. Then when it grows you put it in a bigger pot. It goes into bigger and bigger pots when it grows. We need bigger and bigger people to put them in bigger pots.

 Kaiya says:
My picture is about everything that helps our pumpkins grow.

Stephanie says:
The rain is coming down and making our pumpkin plants grow. There’s a tree house with a ladder and leaves all around it and a tyre swing and a maze.

Cheyanne says:
There are 21 pumpkins growing because there were 21 people in our class when we planted them. When they grow they look like an enormous orange circle. When they are ready we are going to make pumpkin muffins and pumpkin soup.

Term 3:week 6

Room 5 have planted their pumpkin seeds!!

We need to give our pumpkin seeds sun and water everyday so they grow strong and healthy.

We used the recycled yogurt pots as our planting pots but poked holes in the bottom for the water to drain out.

We put the pumpkin seeds on top of seedling mix then covered them with vegetable food.

Term 3: week 5

Room 5 have just started planting pumpkins- a soon to be massive pumpkin patch... mmmmmm imagine delicious hot pumpkin soup on a cold school morning! Photos and plans to come :-)
